Bae Hye-Won

Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this study is to derive practical and policy implications for improving the quality of life of the elderly and their families by identifying the factors that influence the recipient's willingness to use the facility benefits of the beneficiary's family.

Methods : The analysis data utilized the data of 2,541 family members of recipients who are using home benefits among those surveyed in the 2019 Long-Term Care Status Survey. The analysis method was conducted with t-test and to analyze the difference in the beneficiary family's intention to use facility benefits depending on the demographic, health, and residential environment characteristics of the beneficiary. In addition, a binary logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the effect on the intention of use.

Results : Studies have shown that dementia is an influence factor in gender, region, household type, and health characteristics of recipients as demographic. The characteristics of the residential environment are the owner of the hou se (OR=1.477, p<).05) or chartered (OR=1.764, p<.05) for a residence period of more than 20 years (OR=.706, p<.05), it was found that the family's willingness to use the facility was lowered when there were toilet safety handlers (p<.05) in the residential space and when there was a wheelchair movable front door and space (p<.01).

Conclusion : First, in establishing a community care system, care resources will have to be distributed in a balanced manner within the family or community. Second, policies that take into account mental problems such as cognitive function and dementia are needed in addition to physical function. Third, the improvement of the residential environment should be made to improve the convenience of the recipient's daily life while also easing the burden of care for the recipient's family. Above all, the establishment of a home-centered care system will be based on the direction of improving the quality of life for both recipients and their families.
